SMSF software provider BGL has announced that its Simple Fund 360 platform for SMSFs has attained ISO 27001 certification, a key international data security standard.

In a statement on Wednesday, the firm said both Simple Fund 360 and its software platform for accountants, CAS 360, had attained the certification, which was a mandatory ATO requirement for digital services providers.

BGL managing director Ron Lesh said the group had “worked tirelessly” over the past few months to get the certification, which involved having the effectiveness of its information management systems audited externally.

“The result is no surprise to me, but a big accomplishment for the company,” Mr Lesh said.

“Being ISO 27001 certified adds to BGL commitment in offering a world’s best, compliant, technology-advanced and secure solution for clients.”

Mr Lesh said the certification was “a must-have” for companies managing large amounts of client data in today’s business environment.

“ISO 27001 is a respected and internationally recognised information security standard to outline key processes and approaches a business needs in order to securely handle data entrusted to them by third parties,” he said.

He added that BGL’s clients and business partners were increasingly cognisant of the need for robust data security and having the right systems in place to manage this.

“ISO certification helps provide our clients with the confidence and trust they need,” Mr Lesh said.

“At BGL, we take data protection and security very seriously — ISO 27001 is a proof of our commitment to the highest level of security standards and compliance.”
