SMSFA announces first accredited educators
The SMSF Association has awarded three industry training providers as its first accredited educators, meaning their programs will all be automatically accredited with CPD points from the association.
The first three SMSFA accredited educators were confirmed to be Heffron, Smarter SMSF and SuperConcepts. The three firms were awarded accredited educator status due to their proven track record of providing quality CPD activities, commitment to meeting certain standards and providing a minimum number of education hours to practitioners over a 12-month period.
“We encourage our members to look for the SMSF Association Accredited Educator brand mark to ensure they are undertaking accredited, quality SMSF education and continually enhancing their SMSF knowledge,” the association said, describing the three firms selected as “pillars of SMSF education in the sector”.
SuperConcepts general manager of technical services and education Peter Burgess said the group commended the SMSFA on the new initiative, which provided more flexibility to practitioners looking to meet their CPD requirements.
“Professional education requirements are more important than ever for the sector as our practitioners face new standards from FASEA,” Mr Burgess said.
“Ultimately, this is about providing greater access to quality SMSF education and raising the quality of advice in the SMSF sector.”
In a LinkedIn post on Thursday, Smarter SMSF chief executive Aaron Dunn said he was excited to have been appointed an inaugural accredited educator.
“My values in building an SMSF profession have aligned with the SMSF Association for the 15-plus years that I’ve been a member and continue to be dedicated to lifting the standards of professional SMSF advice and services through quality SMSF education,” Mr Dunn said.
