SMSF Adviser is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s SMSF Awards for SMSF audit provider and SMSF document provider.

SMSF Awards 2020
It has been another tumultuous year for the SMSF sector, with the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic downturn impacting everything from investment to compliance. The ATO and the SMSF sector in general has worked tirelessly to address some of the unforeseen issues arising from the current environment. As always, SMSF professionals and their clients have relied heavily on SMSF service providers to guide them through this period of change. Partnering with firms that are adaptable and agile is critical at the moment and has a direct impact on the confidence and satisfaction of clients.
Now in its seventh year, the SMSF Awards recognises the excellence and innovation of the best performing operators servicing SMSF professionals. The winners are based on a survey which was distributed to SMSF Adviser’s database of SMSF professionals. The results were collated and determined by an independent analyst.
SMSF AUDIT PROVIDER WINNER: ASF AUDITS
Highly commended: Evolv Super
SMSF auditors have been faced with increased scrutiny and increased competition in recent years. It is therefore essential that anyone operating in this space has specialist expertise, thorough processes and an efficient service which uses up-to-date technology. This year’s winner is very well regarded by their clients, having won the award seven years in a row.
Ben Atkins, marketing director, ASF Audits
We are so proud to win the prestigious SMSF Audit Provider award for the seventh year in a row. Being acknowledged as the best performing SMSF audit firm across Australia is a tribute to our amazing clients and hardworking team of SMSF audit specialists.
But we believe there’s one main ingredient that feeds our success.
Integrity.
It is the foundation of who we are, what we do and how we work.
Integrity defines our work ethic, guides our instinct for innovation and allows us to create opportunities with like-minded individuals.
We will continue to listen to our clients and develop smart solutions that deliver success. One-Click audit is a perfect example of building capabilities in response to client feedback.
With over 25 years as Australia’s most respected SMSF audit firm, we are not content to simply rest on our laurels.
Finding relevant SMSF audit solutions, expanding client value, and nurturing the next generation of SMSF auditors are all keys to our future success.
We look forward to sharing them with you.
SMSF DOCUMENTATION PROVIDER WINNER: HEFFRON
Highly commended: Topdocs
SMSF documentation has had a major shake-up this year, with changes to strategies and the ATO’s compliance relief resulting from COVID-19 requiring various types of documents or updates to documents. Documentation will be extremely important this year from a compliance point of view, so working with a trusted service provider is important for both SMSF professionals and their clients.
Meg Heffron, managing director, Heffron
Many thanks to all those who supported us to win this prestigious award.
SMSF documents that support accountants and advisers to get the right compliance records in place for their clients have been a cornerstone of Heffron’s services for over 20 years.
But we’re particularly pleased to win in 2020 as the recent launch of our Heffron Super Toolkit and the Heffron Super Companion marks the next step of an important transition for Heffron. We are deliberately making much of our firm’s SMSF expertise and practical experience available digitally at an affordable price. The Heffron Super Toolkit will include a range of tools, calculators, wizards and documents. As the future of Heffron’s SMSF Document Services, it is exciting in that for the first time we have a way to share not just our templates but, more importantly, the checks, practical suggestions, reminders and guidance that accountants and advisers love hearing about in our SMSF Education, all as part of requesting a document.
The first item in our Toolkit focuses on investment strategies — still a hot topic among SMSF professionals. There is no doubt that it is vital these make it very clear to auditors and the ATO that the trustees have genuinely considered all the risks involved in investing their fund’s money. Our Toolkit allows trustees and their accountants, advisers to quickly and efficiently collaborate on the documentation and help tell the trustees’ own story behind their strategy.
The next 12 months will be a key period of expansion for both the Heffron Super Toolkit and Heffron Super Companion. We will share more of our tips and strategies via the Companion as well as providing the right documents to help advisers and accountants actually use these for their clients via the Toolkit.
