The Australian Taxation Office has launched a new online services public beta, with small business owners and SMSF auditors encouraged to provide their feedback to the ATO.

The new service is set to replace the Business Portal and electronic superannuation audit tool (eSAT), which will be decommissioned at a yet-to-be-confirmed date later this year.

According to the ATO, the new service will offer a range of features, including making payment plans, retrieving copies of income tax returns, viewing ATO communication history and accessing the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House.

Online services for business will also allow owners to switch between ABNs with a single login, lodge activity statements and taxable payment annual reports, and view Single Touch Payroll reports.

“OSB has undergone extensive co-design with people in the community, including small business owners, approved self-managed super fund auditors, and other industry professionals,” the Tax Office said in an online update.

“In October 2020, a private beta for OSB began with a select group of representatives from the business and super sectors, to ensure the system meets client needs. We have received feedback firsthand from those using the system, and made changes based on their recommendations.”

The ATO stated that during the transition to Online services for business, the Business Portal and eSAT will still be available until they are decommissioned later this year.
