ATO updates register of SMSF messaging providers for SuperStream changes
With the SuperStream requirements now in place, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has updated the register, which lists self-managed super fund (SMSF) messaging providers who can provide an electronic service address (alias).
In a recent update, the ATO said the register lists SMSF messaging service providers who can provide the SMSF with an electronic service address (alias) for contributions and/or rollovers and release authorities.
“When you receive an electronic service address, you must update your records with us. See Notify us of changes for how to update your details,” the ATO said.
“We do not recommend or endorse any of the listed SMSF messaging service providers. We are providing this register for your information, subject to terms and conditions. As these links connect to external websites, the internet browser you use may affect your ability to access them.”
“In progress” indicates the SMSF messaging provider is in the process of becoming certified to provide an ESA for rollovers and release authorities, according to the ATO.
“No” indicates the SMSF messaging provider will not be providing an ESA for rollovers and release authorities. Updates to the register will continue to be made as providers are certified.
The ATO noted it will maintain the register subject as a public register of SMSF messaging service providers who provide publicly available information for inclusion in the register on a voluntary basis.
Service providers whose details are included in the register warrant that they are providing a messaging service for the express purpose of enabling regulated superannuation entities to comply with their obligations under the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Regulations 1994, and the Commissioner of Taxation reserves the right to remove or modify a service provider’s details at any time.
“While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure that the register is made available, we make no guarantees to provide continuously available access to the register or to provide access which is uninterrupted or fault-free,” the ATO said.
“While we will take all reasonable care to ensure information provided via the register is accurate, subsequent changes in circumstances may occur at any time and may affect the accuracy of the information.
“We do not provide any warranty, make any representation as to, or accept responsibility for, the accuracy, correctness, reliability, timeliness, or completeness, now or in the future, of any information provided via the register.”
