Education for SMSF trustees
The ATO has reminded SMSF trustees to access its publications and online education modules containing key points on what to know when starting, running or winding up an SMSF.
The publications form a suite of education products aimed at supporting trustees with their regulatory and reporting obligations.
The regulator said it strongly recommended trustees take the opportunity to improve their understanding of their SMSF trustee obligations and said the publications acted as a reference tool while the online education modules were interactive and would provide an excellent opportunity for them to build their knowledge.
Trustees who access the education modules can create an account and set up a personalised learning pathway, which will also record course completion.
The Starting a self-managed super fund publication and Setting up a self-managed super fund online education module help trustees consider if an SMSF is right for their circumstances.
